Adult Classes


Afro-Brazilian dance is full of spontaneous, soulful, exotic, and dynamic movement that will energize your body and spirit. These classes present sequences and exercises to prepare the body for uplifting and exciting dances from northern Brazil.


Rumba class with live drumming will provide a meeting space for students to learn the history, shines and style in Guaguanco, Yambu, and Columbia.

Beginner Samba

This class is designed for dancers to learn, and/or improve their Samba no pé technique (footwork), exploring Samba's cultural essence - its roots, without losing their self-expression on the process.

Absolute Beginner Salsa

There is no better place to learn Salsa than New York City, considered by many to be the “mecca” of salsa. Taught by BAILA Society this Absolute Beginner level class is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the dance.

Roots of Samba / Afro Brazilian Dance

Classes with Quenia Ribeiro feature the various forms of Samba from Rio De Janeiro and Bahia. (Samba No Pe, Miudinho, Samba Reggae, Samba Afro, Samba De Roda, Samba Reggae).

Open Samba / Afro-Brazilian

This is an open level Brazilian dance class that incorporates its Afro-Brazilian roots and the rhythms of Brazilian Samba.

Beginner Salsa

Move comfortably and confidently to Latin rhythms, transitioning into fundamental salsa footwork, while taking a unique approach to partner work.

Open Capoeira

Capoeira is an African-Brazilian martial art that incorporates acrobatics, dance, music, and songs in a rhythmic dialogue of body, mind, and spirit. It is a communal game in which two opponents play each other inside the roda (a circle), formed by the other players who create rhythm for the game by clapping, singing and playing the berimbaus (African-Brazilian traditional instruments, considered the soul of Capoeira) and other key instruments.

Afro-Cuban Folkloric

Sway to the rhythms of Cuba, while building strength and agility.

Open West African

Body, mind and spirit combine in an energetic union of music, dance and oral tradition.
